Singapore and Johor

Finally I have some time and the connection to blog about my trip to Singapore to watch the Phantom of the Opera! It's a little anti-climax now, but still...it was great! I had so much fun!

Ok, the trip itself was quite tiring, we drove from KL to Johor and stayed with some relatives, then the next day we took public transport into Singapore, and it was really hectic coz we had to get to our hotel, then to the Esplanade Theatre to collect our tickets, then have lunch before the show starts. Really hectic!

But I'll get into that later, let me show you the pix first.

This is the Esplanade Theatre... I don't know whose idea it was to make it look like a durian...

Here I am, taking a picture with the poster, coz we can't take pictures inside the auditorium.

Our tickets! Collected just an hour before the show!

The show was great, I teared up more than a couple of times. In fact, at the end when everyone was applauding and 'bravo-ing', I couldn't make my share of noise because I was all choked up. And if you know me, you know I'm one of the noisiest audience when it comes to showing my appreciation, but somehow I just couldn't make a sound. I was just so happy to be there with my dearest, I guess. =~)

Anyway, the show itself was great, I loved the Phantom, his performance was wonderful, and his singing voice is great too. I kinda didn't like the actress who played Christine, I think she overdid it a little. I couldn't understand a word she sang, and she played Christine a little too aggressively.

Overall, the movie was still a whole lot better, of course. But seeing it live is such an experience. I can't wait to see it again in London.

I bought a Phantom mug that I had been wanting since I saw someone else's which they bought from London.

Damn, forgot to take a picture of it and post it on here.

Nevermind.

Anyway, back to the trip.

As I said, we went to Johor before going to Singapore, and let me tell you, the best thing about the whole trip (other than getting to see POTO) is the extremely spicy-licious tomyam meehoon I had in Johor for dinner the night before.

Words cannot describe it. Honestly, it was the best thing I've ever tasted in my whole entire life ever since the day I was born until now.

Every bite, every taste, every swallow, was like fireworks going off in my mouth. And not just any fireworks. You know the ones in Lord of the Rings, the magical, beautiful, artistic ones? Every bite was like those fireworks going off in my mouth. I savoured every bite, mouthful by mouthful. I have never savoured any meal that way before.

LOL! Sounds kinky.

But seriously... all my life, I enjoy my food, and I savour them too, but you know sometimes you eat and you just savour the first few bites and then after that you start chatting and just absently eat your food? Well, it didn't happen with this tomyum. I savoured every little bite from beginning to end. I was so totally involved in the food that I hardly even registered the other people at the table talking to me. LOL!

Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture, heck, how was I supposed to know that it was gonna be that good?! It doesn't look anything special anyway, it's the taste that was mind-blowing.

Just goes to show you can't judge anything by its look.

I hope I get to go back there again for the tomyum. All the way to Johor, just for the tomyum... Gosh... just thinking about it now makes me salivate.

Itchy Pirates

I don't want to complain about my internet connection anymore. I don't even want to think about it. I've been really, really patient, and I'll continue to be really, really patient because the internet problems will definitely not outlast me.

I will win this war! *determined*

So...let's ignore that and go on to other topics.

I watched Pirates of the Carribean 3 last Friday! It was so good words can't describe it! All I can say is that it made me feel like a little girl again, but instead of dreaming of becoming a princess, this time I'm dreaming of becoming a pirate!

Whatever the dream though, I believe that dreams are good. I feel more alive when I have dreams, don't you?

I resolve to be more in tune with my inner child! I'm gonna be more childish and whoever doesn't like it, well, they need to grow up! ;P

Honestly, some people need to know the difference between being childish and being immature. I know some of the most 'mature-acting' people who are also some of the most immature people, and some of the most 'childish' people I know are also the most mature.

If that previous sentence was hard to understand, then you gotta start being more mature and childish.

Ok, yada yada yada...

Fast forward to after the movie.

I spent the most excruitingly itchy weekend in bed with hives! Arrgghh!!

Even thinking about it now makes me itch...

You have no idea how terrible it was. Honestly, it was pure torture! I would rather someone pluck my eyebrow hairs one by one than go through that again.

Oh wait... I already do let someone pluck out my eyebrow hairs...

Ok, I rather go for a Brazillian wax on some very sensitive part than to go through that itchy itchiness again!

I am so glad the itchiness is over. I couldn't sleep the whole weekend! It was so itchy!

Honestly, you have no idea how tired I was. I kept waking up every single hour, I'm not kidding, every. single. hour. because the hives kept moving around, and the itch kept itching, and I just couldn't sleep.

I was so tired I almost fainted a couple of times when I got up to walk about, so I mostly just sat around and itched.

Sighz...

I am so so so sooooo glad it's over.

It's at times like these I hate that my father's a naturalist.

All I wanted was some drugs to stop the itch, goddammit! But nooooo, Dr. Daddy says let the hives run their course.

Ok, obviously I know it's for my own good, and for the good of a hive-less future, but when you're itching as badly as I was, you don't care!

But that's all over and done with now.

*heavy sighz of relief*

*in Scarlet O'Hara fashion* I will never go itchy again!!!!!

Internet (or lack of) and Idols

It's been one and a half weeks now that my internet connection has been acting up.

I really don't know what's up with it. My brother has called TMNet so goddamned many times and yet it's still not fixed!

Yo! TMNet! Will you guys get a move on and fix it already! One and a half weeks is waaaaayyy too long to be slacking!

I'm at Lone's place right now, just to use the internet. I can't access my mails, I can't blog, I can't even do my online studies coz I can't get online!

How long more can this go on?

Ok, cool down.

*deep breaths*

Breathe in... breathe out....

Close your eyes and imagine you're in a peaceful place.

The air is clean and fresh, the grass is green, the sky is blue, the internet connection is faster than the speed of light, and the world is beautiful...

I feel so much better now.

I honestly don't know how long more TMNet needs to fix this problem, but it can't go on forever. So I'm going to buck up and get through this.

I will survive!! Muahahahhaha!!

----

In the meantime, who do you guys think will win this season's American Idol?

I think Jordin is the better singer, of course, there's no doubt about that. But I just think that it would be so cool if Blake won, just for a change.

I believe most people will vote for Jordin, so she'd probably win, and she'd deserve to win. Actually, they all deserve to win! Blake, Jordin, and Melinda! It's the first time in AI history that I love the top 3 almost all equally!

Oh, but as I was saying, I want Blake to win AI simply because I want a different AI face. Every year the same type of people win again and again and again.

Although the rockers have gotten great publicity in AI, they never actually win it, because no one but a regular-type singer could win it, I think.

I really, really hope Blake wins it for the beatboxers! He's really talented musically and I think he deserves to win it just as much as Jordin does.

It doesn't really matter who wins it in terms of their career from here on, because Blake will sells loads of records regardless of winning or not, but it's just really gonna be great if he wins!

So... Go Blake!

Connection Problems

What the hell is wrong with my internet connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GRRRRRRRRR!

Since I've come home from Singapore, I haven't been able to access my emails, and MSN, and a couple other sites.

It's damn annoying, k!

I had more than 250 emails waiting for me in my gmail account, and it's damn slow loading and I can't even delete them without gmail telling me that there's something wrong with my connection, please try again later...blah blah blah.

Most of the other sites are fine, just these few, and I don't know why someone won't go and fix it already.

I finally got so tired of it that I decided to get out of the house.

So here I am, in Starbucks, finally finished with my gmail and now finally able to blog!

Unfortunately, I forgot to upload the pics from Singapore...

*sigh*

But it was so much fun, I'll tell you all about it later. Now I really need to get some stuff done on the internet before I go back home.

I am so gonna 'sternly' tell my brother to get the internet fixed. =P

I don't know how much more I can stand. Internet problems all the time. Argghh!!

No more please!

Phantom of the Opera!

I'm going off to Singapore for the weekend to watch the Phantom of the Opera!!

*high-pitched squeal*

Finally!

I've been waiting for it ever since it started showing. It just happened that I wasn't free every single weekend until this one, and it's supposedly the last weekend they're showing, but they extended it til next week because it was so popular.

I'm going off tomorrow to JB to visit some relatives first, then we'll leave early Saturday morning for Singapore to catch the show. We're gonna meet some friends there and stay one night, so that it won't be so hectic and we can do some shopping too.

Depending on how much we get done, we'll either be back by Sunday night, or Monday evening.

So...enjoy the weekend, guys! I know I will!

I'm soooooo excited!

POTO, here I come!

Tough Question

I'm still in the middle of unpacking. There's so damned many books! I'm still figuring out how to organize them.

Anyway, I decided to treat myself a little today after working so hard, so I started reading Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult.

As usual, reading got me thinking.

It doesn't actually happen in the book, or maybe it does but I haven't gotten to that part yet, but I had a hypothetical question.

If you were fifteen year old, and you lost your virginity to someone you really, really loved, and he died in an accident a couple of days later... And you found out you were pregnant a couple of months later...

Would you keep the baby? Or would you abort?

Let's assume that we're all pro-choice here, none of that abortion-is-murder crap, ok.

Looking at the pros and cons of it;

on one hand, you are only fifteen and the father is dead. You're definitely going to be alone in raising the baby, except of coz, if your family supports you in keeping it too.

on the other hand, he's dead, and the baby will be the only thing you'll ever have to remind you of him and to carry on his "legacy".

Would you keep it? Or would you abort?

The romantic part of me says I'll keep it. The practical part says I'll abort it. But then again, if the man I love just died, I'd probably be in the "tragic-romantic" mode, rather than the practical mode, so in all likelihood, I'd vote to keep it.

But then again, while I would be grief-striken and unable to think practically, I'm sure my parents would still be able to think properly "on my behalf", and I'm pretty sure they'll tell me not to ruin my life because of some tragic-romantic notion.

In that scenario, would I rebel and run away and have my dead lover's baby anyway and regret it for the rest of my life? Or would I do the practical thing and abort it and regret it for the rest of my life?

Honestly, I don't know, but I'm so glad I never have to face a situation like that.

It would make a good story though. I'm just not sure if Songs of the Humpback Whale is already telling that story, or am I running away with my imagination?

Still Moving...

Phew!!

Moving is tiring!!

*groans*

My back aches, my feet hurts, my body wants to go back to bed. But there's still so much to do.

Sorry guys, can't stay long. My whole *new* house is filled with boxes, and today I have a wedding to attend, and a performance to give, which means I have to go there earlier for rehersal.

Why do everything always happen all at once!

Moving Day!

I'm moving today!

Tonight will be my first night in my new place.

It's really funny how time just flies past like this. It seems like just yesterday we found the place. LOL! But I know we've taken a *really* long time to move. It's about time we actually do.

But that's the thing, I guess. It's because we've taken so long to move, that the concept of moving seems like it's always been there and the moving itself always seemed so far away, so now that we're actually finally moving, it's a little hard to adjust to this concept. LOL!

Today is just the preliminary move though, tomorrow's the day the professional movers come.

I'm really psyched! Can't wait to do all sorts of wonderful things to my room! It's not fully decorated yet, so there's a lot of potential for me to make it really girly.

It's my one chance to be girly! Wonder if I'll pull it off.

Anyway, it's American Idol tonight and I really, really hope I don't miss it with all the moving. I *cannot* miss this week's performance. I heard Jon Bon Jovi is mentoring, and they're all gonna sing his songs this week. How can I miss it!

Jon Bon Jovi is like, the ultimate idol! I love him, I love all his songs, and he's the most generous, humble, giving, and talented person in the world.

I loved him all the while, but when I saw him on Oprah, I fell completely! He's so completely down-to-earth despite all his fame and fortune. In fact, he actually seemed like he didn't like people making a fuss about him. He's married to his high school sweetheart. He actually donated a million dollars (together with his band) to Oprah's charity fund.

He's wonderful.

I love him!

Although I can't ever have him. LOL!

And I don't ever want him too, coz I want him to stay with his high school sweetheart wife of his.

Sighz... Love him!
